Oscars 2014 was spectacular and remarkable. It had some epic victories and ultra-glam guests. Undoubtedly, the event was mesmerizing. Graceful and sensual dresses were the prominent red carpet look, and those extraordinary jewels were equally praiseworthy.
While gold was the dominating metal, statement jewelry was the prominent style at the event. Celebrities have put their best foot forward, and jewelry played a major role in creating their iconic and picture perfect looks. Here are the jewelry trends and who adorned the best at Oscars.
Gold is always a big part of jewelry at Oscars but this year it was the dominating metal. Most of the celebrities opted for white gold jewelry comparing to platinum. The reason for this love might be the initiative of World Gold Council as well as the reduced prices in international market. Whatever it was, the metal shined brilliantly.
Vintage and art-deco designs crafted in 18k white or yellow gold were the featured pieces at the event. Lupita Nyong’o, Cate Blanchette, Angelina Jolie, Amy Adams and Margot Robbie adorned 18k gold jewelry.
With its natural and undiminished shine, platinum is an essential part of Oscars. This year was no exception. Many stars were dipped in the sparkle of platinum. Jewels of Sarah Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel and Penelope Cruz were few stunning examples of platinum glow.
It was a surprise but diamonds were in abundance on red carpet. From $15 million Harry Winston necklace of Charlize Theron to Lorraine Schwartz cuff bracelet of Viola Davis, everything has diamonds in it.
Seeing so many spectacular necklaces was amazing. From Idina Menzel’s $300,000 77.12 carats diamond collar to Margot Robbie’s 55.26 carat platinum and diamond necklace and Jennifer Lawrence’s $2 million crystal, diamond and platinum necklace, statement necklaces were a visual treat.
Stackable rings were a hot trend throughout the award season. And it also shined brightly at Oscars. While many celebrities donned dramatic cocktail rings, Emma Watson and Amy Adams perfectly put it right with their stackable diamond eternity rings. We also love the butterfly ring of Emma.
Earrings are the dominating accessory of red carpet. But this year at Oscars, they were exceptional. Studs, drops, dangles or chandeliers – every style was there and that too in the most astonishing design. Although, it was difficult to pick the best pair as we love them all, yet earrings adorned by Jena Dewan– Tatum, Julie Roberts, Olga Kurylenko, Olivia Wilde, Tara Lipinski and Ireland Baldwin deserves special mentioning. From vintage to modern and every style in between was seen at red carpet.
